Great George's Road

Great Georges Road Walking and Cycling Improvements

Did you know the Council have declared a Climate Emergency? This means we need to change the way we do things and look at what we are doing so we can reduce our impact on the environment.

Last year’s Public Health Annual Report on Air Quality identifies road transport as a major contributor to poor air quality in Sefton. One way of helping us meet our carbon reduction target and to improve Air Quality is to encourage people to walk and cycle rather than use their cars.

We have been looking at ways we can make improvements for people walking and cycling along the A565 including at the junction with Great Georges Road. We have found that we can make changes to Great Georges Road which would make it better for people walking and cycling. Our ideas we are talking to you about will improve the link between Crosby Coastal Park and Litherland and beyond.

This scheme will be funded through the City Region’s programme to improve conditions for people walking and cycling known as Sustainable Transport Enhancements Programme (STEP). It’s also part of the wider city region plan to improve walking and cycling, called the LCWIP (Local Cycling and Walking Improvement Plan)
