Walking and cycling

As
the local highway authority, Sefton Council is responsible for
managing and maintaining pavements, public rights of way and cycle
tracks within the Borough. As part of our commitment to improving
the environment and people's health, we also want to encourage
people to walk and cycle more. This means providing people with the
opportunities to do so and making it as easy and attractive as
possible for them.

We need to make sure that
our pavements are safe and can be used by all members of the
community, including visually impaired people and those who find it
difficult to get about, e.g. people with disabilities, in
wheelchairs etc. To ensure this, we have been auditing areas
throughout the Borough to assess how accessible they are and to
develop a programme to improve the levels of accessibility for all
people.
