Christmas and New Year Collection Arrangements
Each year, Sefton Council provides restricted services over the Christmas and New Year period.
This means waste collection services are reduced with some collections not taking place over the 10-day holiday period. Like last year, the teams that are working will be prioritising grey bin and refuse sack collections.
Collections over the Christmas and New Year period are scheduled as shown in the table below (Click on the image below for full-size version of the table).
Waste Recycling Centres
Household Waste Recycling Centres are open from 8am to 5pm every day apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day for the free disposal of items and waste.
This includes paper, card and plastics as well as non-recyclables
Sefton’s Waste Recycling Centres are:
- South Sefton Household Waste Recycling Centre, Irlam Road, Bootle L20 4AE
- Sefton Meadows Household Waste Recycling Centre, Sefton Lane, Maghull L31 8BX
- Southport Household Waste Recycling Centre, Foul Lane, Southport PR9 7RG
- Formby Household Waste Recycling Centre, Altcar Road, Formby L37 8DL
Bulky item collections
The final collection date for bulky items before Christmas will be Friday 20th December 2024.
Bulky item collections will restart on Thursday 2nd January 2025.

Clinical waste collections
The final weekly clinical waste collection before Christmas will be on Friday 20th December 2024.
Clinical waste collections will restart on Thursday 2nd January 2025.
The ad-hoc clinical waste collection has a final collection date before Christmas of Friday 20th December 2024.
Collections will restart on Thursday 2nd January 2025.
