Business Rates - Supporting Small Business Rate Relief - Extended to 2022-2023

This relief is available to ratepayers who have lost some or all of their small business rate relief or rural rate relief as a result of an increase in rateable value in the 2017 revaluation. This relief was introduced from 1st April 2017 to help phase-in large percentage increases for those affected.

The scheme limits any increase in business rates to the greater of either a percentage for each financial year plus inflation or £600 per year and will apply for a maximum of five years.

The scheme has now been extended for 2022-2023 and will limits increases to 15% plus inflation or a cash value increase of £600 if greater.

The Council will identify eligible ratepayers and will issue revised bills shortly.

Subsidy Allowance

Receipt of this relief amounts to Subsidy Allowance and if you are likely to breach the Small Amounts of Financial Assistance Allowance then you must notify the Council immediately.
