Aiming High Short Breaks

The Summer Aiming High Short Breaks programme for 2017 saw record numbers of children and young people enjoying a short break and their families enjoying the respite that these activities bring.

The feedback that Aiming High receive from parents/carers and young people accessing our provision helps us to shape the future of the short breaks service to keep improving.

Aiming High Short Breaks, along with teams and services at Sefton Council and in the local community, is looking ahead to Short Breaks for 2018 and planning ahead the next Summer Programme.

The Aiming High Short Breaks team offer a specially-tailored programme of fantastic activities and support for children and young people aged 5-19yrs.

The team works to give those children who might not usually have been included the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of social, leisure and sport opportunities. 

A range of age and needs specific term-time activities, including:

  • Social Opportunities which in turn Promote Independence.
  • Outdoor Activities.
  • 'Wheels for All' adapted bikes.
  • Swimming lessons and general swimming.
  • Various sports including football, trampolining and more.
  • Disability tailored nights at Dunes Splash World in Southport.

In order for a child/young person to access the activities the team provides they will first need to be referred to the team by a professional involved with the child/young person.

A Care Plan, Medication Authorisation and Seizure Form (if required) will then need to be completed to ensure we are meeting each young persons needs whilst they are in our care.

Please note that the Medication Authorisation and Seizure Forms need to be signed by a medical professional. If the team do not have to administer any medication to your child please provide details of all medicines but in this circumstance we do not require medical professionals signature.
