Football fans heading to Anfield will soon have another convenient way to travel.

From Sunday 9th August, the successful Bootle shuttle bus service is being extended to trial a service for Liverpool FC home matches. The first will be for Liverpool’s preseason game against AS Monaco on that day.

Expansion of successful Hill Dickinson Stadium shuttle 

Next month’s expansion of the service follows the success of dedicated matchday shuttle services connecting Bootle with Everton's new Hill Dickinson Stadium. Now Liverpool fans and will also be able to make the most of the town's excellent transport links and parking facilities.

Bootle acting as a key matchday transport hub

The new trial service will further establish Bootle as a key matchday transport hub for football supporters travelling to major fixtures across the city region. Fans will be able to take advantage of convenient parking options, public transport connections and dedicated shuttle services. This, in turn, reduces congestion making journeys to and from matches easier and more efficient.

Hassle free travel to the match 

The shuttle service to Hill Dickinson Stadium has already proved popular with supporters, with Bootle Strand Shopping Centre offering secure parking and direct shuttle connections to the stadium. The service has also brought additional visitors into the town centre, creating new opportunities for local businesses to benefit from matchday footfall.

Councillor Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said:

"The introduction of the shuttle service to Hill Dickinson Stadium has shown what a valuable role Bootle can play as a transport hub for sporting events.

"We're delighted to build on that success by extending the service to Liverpool FC home matches. Supporters will have another convenient travel option, while local businesses will benefit from the increased number of visitors passing through the town on matchdays.

"This is another positive step in ensuring that residents, visitors and businesses can share in the benefits created by world-class sporting events taking place in our city region."

Anfield shuttle starting in August 

The trial shuttle bus service to Anfield will begin operating from Sunday the 9th August onwards, providing a simple and convenient connection for supporters travelling via Bootle.

The new 968 service operates from Bootle Bus Station stand 4 to Anfield Stadium, dropping supporters at the existing Everton Valley bus stop. Buses start 3 hours prior to kick off.
