Sefton@Work brought council staff, partners, and politicians together to celebrate the opening of their new premises in the heart of Southport.
Located in Cambridge Arcade, the Sefton@Work team now sit in the town centre, making it more convenient than ever for Southport residents, businesses and visitors to seek advice and support.
The new premises includes a training room, which the team will use to run a variety of courses throughout the year.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Marion Atkinson said: “I am delighted that Sefton@Work have opened a fantastic new office space in Southport town centre. This is just another example of our commitment to revitalising the town and creating more opportunities for residents and local businesses.
“I strongly encourage anyone over the age of 16 to take up the free, confidential expert advice the team can offer whether that be finding your first job, getting back into work, or help with a change of career.”
Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said: “It is so important vital services like Sefton@Work are based in the heart of the town.
“It makes it easy for people passing, whether on their way to the shops, to work, or to school, to visit and find out about the support on offer.
“The new and improved facilities will enable the Sefton@Work to reach an even wider range of residents and businesses and deliver free expert advice, even better training opportunities, and much more.”
Patrick Hurley MP said: “The opening of Sefton@Work’s new premises in Southport is a fantastic step forward in making vital employment and training support more accessible to our community.
“At a time when many people are navigating career changes, re-entering the workforce, or seeking their first job, having a central, welcoming space in the town centre like this is invaluable. The addition of a dedicated training room shows real commitment to upskilling our residents and supporting local businesses. I commend Sefton Council and the Sefton@Work team for their continued investment in Southport and for ensuring that opportunity and support are within easy reach for everyone.”
