Free junior golf membership worth £80 still available to Sefton’s under 16s

Once again this summer, Sefton Council is offering free junior golf memberships to under-16s.

A year’s no-cost play

Free membership, worth £80 entitles young people to a year’s no-cost play at its Bootle and Southport courses for the next 12 months.

Signing up for the free membership is simple. Under-16s just need to register at the Bootle Golf Club or Southport Golf Links shops although they do need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must provide proof of age.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “The recent staging of the Open at Royal Liverpool and it return to Sefton’s own Royal Birkdale in 2026 are likely to have inspired some of our young people to want to take up golf or improve their game and these free memberships are a great opportunity to do that.

“Worth £80, the access these memberships provide to free golf at our Bootle and Southport courses, might just result in the discovery of the next Tommy Fleetwood.”
