From Lived Experience to Smart Solutions: Join Adult Social Care’s Co-production Group for Technology Enabled Care

29 June 2026 2min read

Adult Social Care in Sefton is inviting people who use care and support services, along with their families, friends and carers to join a new co-production group focused on Technology Enabled Care (TEC). It will be called the Support and Technology Together Co-Production Group.

Get involved

Older people, disabled people, individuals with long-term health conditions or additional needs, and parents or carers of children and young people with SEND are all encouraged to get involved and help shape Sefton’s TEC Strategy.

Technology Enabled Care

Technology Enabled Care uses smart solutions, such as telecare, Careline services, personal alarms and safety sensors to help people stay safe and independent at home.

No prior knowledge of the technology is needed, as everything will be explained during the sessions.

Introductory sessions

People are invited to attend one of the first introductory sessions, taking place on either:

  • Thursday 16th July, 2:00–4:00pm at Crosby Library, L22 0LQ
  • Wednesday 29th July, 10:30 am – 12:30pm at Formby Library, L37 4AN

What Co-production means

Co-production means working in partnership with people who have lived experience to design and improve services from the outset. Their insight helps ensure support truly meets people’s needs and delivers positive outcomes.

Sefton has a strong track record of co-production. For example, service users helped rename the “Transitions” team to Moving Forward to Adulthood, better reflecting its purpose.

The Willow View Co-production Group has also played a key role in designing a new short-term assessment unit in Ainsdale, influencing everything from the sensory spaces to the overall environment and service approach. The unit is due to open in 2027.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health and Deputy Leader said:
“In Sefton, we are committed to building a strong culture of co-production. By working together, we can get things right first time and build trusted, equal relationships with the people who rely on our services.

“I would encourage everyone who has experienced care and support services in Sefton to get involved in this group, whether technology has helped, confused, frustrated you, or even if you’ve never used it, we want to hear your views.”
