With work completed ahead of schedule, the A5036 Dunnings Bridge Road’s westbound Lane has reopened a week early.
Drivers can now use both westbound lanes along the busy route, now that the road widening and resurfacing is complete.
Cllr Daren Veidman, Cabinet Member for Housing and Highways said: “We have worked hard with Balfour Beatty to minimise disruption during the Maritime Corridor scheme and it is great to see progress. I am sure that people who use Dunnings Bridge Road will welcome this early re-opening.
“When the scheme is fully completed, improved junctions and crossings, and a new segregated footpath and cycleway will make it easier for all users to travel along the route more quickly, sustainably and safely.”
Benefits of the scheme
The Maritime Corridor works will make it safer for people to walk and cycle in the area, encouraging people to make the switch to ditch their cars, making journeys that reduce pollution.
The scheme also benefits those without access to a car and speeds up journey times for those travelling by car or public transport.
