People in Southport will soon be seeing digital adverts promoting local drug and alcohol support services from Change Grow Live and Sefton Council.

These adverts will be displayed across key locations to raise awareness of the services available and provide important information on how to find out more and contact them.

Campaign to raise awareness

The Council’s new campaign is to raise awareness of the support and services Change Grow Live Sefton can offer. People will be seeing ads in a variety of locations across the Borough over the coming weeks.

Terrible effects

Cllr Mhairi Doyle, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, walked into an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in March 1986 and has not had a drink since.

She said: “I know, personally what alcohol dependency can do to people’s live and have seen the terrible effects that drug use and addiction can have.

“Taking the first step to recovery is not easy. It can be frightening to admit you are dependent on alcohol or drugs.

“Change Grow Live Sefton understand this and can help people through that difficult first stage to pull together a programme of support that can help you make positive changes.”

Healthier and more fulfilling life

A first meeting with Change Grow Live Sefton will involve a discussion about your challenges and goals and the route to living a healthier and more fulfilling life. The team will then help you to find the tools you need to meet your goals, as well as any extra support you need along the way.

Cllr Doyle, who also lost a son to alcohol, added: "I know myself that the process isn’t easy. It’s hard work, but it’s hard work that gives you your life back.”
