People invited to listening event on local hospital gynaecology and maternity services

As part of its six-week public engagement on local hospital gynaecology and maternity services, the NHS is inviting people to an event at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre on Friday 22nd November.

Chance to hear from clinicians

Taking place between 10.00am  and 12 noon, the event will be a chance to hear more about the services from clinicians who are involved in providing the care. People will also be invited to take part in small group discussions where they can share their views and give feedback on any care they have received.

Continuing until Tuesday 26th November, the NHS public engagement  is giving people an opportunity to comment on the issues facing hospital gynaecology and maternity services in Liverpool.

Only specialist centre

The main issue affecting these services is that they are on a different hospital site to where most adult acute and specialist care happens. Liverpool Women’s Hospital is the only specialist centre for gynaecology and maternity in the country where care is arranged in this way, and it can sometimes cause problems and delays in providing patients with the right care and treatment.

In addition to the face-to-face events, which are also taking place in Kirkby and Liverpool there will be two online events that will be held on Microsoft Teams. These will take place on Monday 4th November from 6pm to 8pm and on Wednesday 13th November between 10am and 12noon.

Register to take part

People wanting to take part in the face-to-face or online events need to register by emailing engagement@cheshireandmerseyside.nhs.uk or calling 0151 702 4353, Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 4pm.

Anyone who is unable to attend a face-to-face or online event can still find take part in the engagement process, and can find out more about the issues and complete a short questionnaire at: www.GynaeAndMaternityLiverpool.nhs.uk

Responses gathered and analysed

Once the engagement closes on 26 November 2024, all responses gathered will be analysed by an independent organisation and put into a report, which is likely to be published in early 2025. This feedback will be used to help inform what happens next, including the development of any proposals for how hospital gynaecology and maternity services could look in the future.
