Local icons Red Rum Club have confirmed their return to Salt and Tar in Bootle for its second Music Weekender.

Last year’s Saturday headliners will take up the opening slot at this year’s event, appearing on Thursday 15th August. They will be supported by The Farm, a band best known for their 1991 hit All Together Now, and three other support acts.

You can register now for presale tickets from 10am on Thursday 18th July at the Live Nation website. Ticket go on general sale on the site from 10am on Friday 19th July.

Venue ambassadors

The Merseyside indie stars have become synonymous with Salt and Tar, even becoming the subject of a spectacular mural at the venue created by artist Paul Curtis.

As well as attending the mural’s unveiling, the band, fresh off such career highlights as a sell-out gig at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena and induction onto the world-famous Cavern Hall of Fame, lit up Salt and Tar’s opening weekend of 2024 with a surprise acoustic set.

Star-studded line up

Red Rum Club are followed in the Music Weekender bill by iconic London rockers Status Quo. With over 60 years of performing experience under their belts, the band renowned for such hits as “Rocking All Over The World” and “Whatever You Want” will make their Salt and Tar debut on Friday 16th August.

Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August will see back-to-back gigs from this year’s headliner, Welsh pop legend Tom Jones. 84-year-old Sir Tom, whose glittering career features everything from Las Vegas sell-out shows to TV talent show stardom, brings his timeless style to Bootle for two curtain-closing concerts.

Salt and Tar will be open from 4pm every day during the Music Weekender, giving revellers the chance to enjoy a wide variety of food and drink while taking in the pre-concert atmosphere.

Salt and Tar success

Cllr Paulette Lappin, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said: “Red Rum Club have been such wonderful supporters for Salt and Tar, and Bootle town centre’s transformation generally. We are delighted that they’ve agreed to join us for what promises to be another incredible Music Weekender.

“Salt and Tar has enjoyed a superb start to its 2024 programme with the success of its second Comedy Weekender. Based on the speed at which tickets have been bought, we’re expecting the same for this upcoming event.

“This is another positive step in our ongoing push to revitalise Bootle town centre and make the wider public aware of its potential as a local hotspot. Alongside our transformation project for Bootle Strand, events like this one are helping make Bootle a truly exciting place to be.”

You can register now for presale tickets from 10am on Thursday 18th July at the Live Nation website. Ticket go on general sale on the site from 10am on Friday 19th July.

Also there is a very limited number of tickets still available for Status Quo, but both Tom Jones sets are fully sold out.
