Sefton Council’s Bereavement Services team is inviting all visitors to pay tribute to fathers and father figures at Thornton Garden of Rest.
On Father’s Day (Sunday 21 June), Thornton Crematorium will host a two-hour event, lasting from 12-2pm. It will include a special service of remembrance at 1pm.
Sefton Council has partnered with Dignity Funeral Directors and Good Funeral Company to stage the open event.
Paying tribute
Cllr Peter Harvey, Cabinet Member responsible for Bereavement Services, said: “Everyone is welcome to come to Thornton Garden of Rest and pay their respects.
“This event gives people who can’t spend the day with their fathers a time and place to remember and reflect.
“Many of us take the day as an opportunity to remember fathers, but also paternal figures who have shaped our lives. We hope this event offers an opportunity to collectively hold those special people in our thoughts.”
How to get there
Thornton Garden Rest is one of two crematorium sites operated by Sefton Council, alongside Southport Crematorium.
Visitors to the event will be able to park in the car park at the rear of the crematorium, which is situated on Lydiate Lane.
Those using public transport can get off the train at Waterloo and take the 54 or 63 bus.
