WSP to support in major transport scheme delivery

WSP has been appointed to as the supplier for Sefton Council’s Transport Technical Support Services to help the Council deliver an ambitious transport schemes across the borough.

The contract is initially for four years, with the option to be extended. WSP will provide support such as transport planning, design development, engineering delivery and construction supervision. This will help the council deliver the next round of the Transport for City Region funding allocation.

WSP will also be providing social value for communities across Sefton, from initiatives focused on children and young people to partnerships that provide tangible in-work placements and work experience.

Peter Moore, Assistant Director of Highways and Public Protection, Sefton Council said:

“With the Transport for City Region funding from the Combined Authority, we have the opportunity to deliver further significant travel improvements in Sefton.

“With the expertise and support services from WSP, working alongside our internal teams and expertise, we can make a real difference to how people move around their local area.

“Additionally, people in Sefton get to see additional benefits from the social value delivered locally, as outlined in the contract.”

“This new agreement gives us the opportunity to continue that journey, bringing our multidisciplinary expertise to help progress the Council’s transport priorities from early feasibility through to delivery, while strengthening the social value we create with local partners.”

WSP has previously supported the Council to deliver schemes across the borough from Les Transformations de Southport Phase 1, the Maritime Corridor Phase 1, and Southport Eastern Access Phase 1, funded by the Combined Authority’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS).
