Driver Licensing (Renewals)
You can now only renew your licence and continue working as a taxi driver if you complete your renewal application via our online portal before the expiry of your current licence.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you submit your application and attend BEFORE your existing licence expires. If you fail to renew your licence, your licence will lapse, and you will be required to submit a new application which may involve waiting for checks to be satisfactorily returned before you can be licenced again.
National Register of Taxi Licensing Refusals and Revocations (NR3)
The Local Government Association (LGA) commissioned a new National Register of taxi licensing refusals and revocations (NR3). The register is hosted by the National Anti-Fraud Network (NAFN). Sefton Council will search the register when processing your application. If a record exists, we will contact the licensing authority that recorded the entry and ask for more information, which, if shared will help us make a decision regarding your application. You will not be licensed pending the outcome so please don’t delay your application to renew your licence.
Renewal letters will be posted out to drivers, in advance, confirming the date that their licence expires.
Renewals Application Process:
The letter will confirm the expiry date of your current licence and lists all the required documents / check codes / evidence that you will be required to upload or bring to the One Stop Shop.
Please ensure that you have all the documents and evidence listed in your Renewal Letter before proceeding.
You will be required to submit your renewal application via our online portal. A how to guide will be sent with your renewal letter detailing how to do this.
Some of the documents / evidence listed on your Renewal Letter must be uploaded as you complete the online application:
- Driving Licence
- Passport
- Completed Medical
- Identification Documents
You must also bring all of these to the One Stop Shop when you visit, together with all the other original documentation and check codes listed in your Renewal Letter.
Step 4: Visit One Stop Shop before your badge expires
Once you have fully completed and submitted the application online, you must visit Bootle One Stop Shop to finalise the process and have your renewal licence issued. You must provide ALL the required original documentation and Check Codes
You will be asked to pay the required fees via an online link so you MUST have access to your emails, be able to log on to your portal account and bring a payment card with sufficient funds to cover the licence fees.
