Health, exercise, nutrition for the really young. National weight management programme for 0–5-year-olds being developed and delivered in partnership across key sites.

  • Parent and Toddler Group, bring families together to play and understand their child’s development.   
  • Family Cookery programme, 6 weekly course to teach families how to cook, healthy eating, budgeting skills, etc. 
  • Signpost to community sessions/groups and organisations that support children's development. 
  • Provide Universal training package for schools and settings to ensure best practice e.g., curriculum, engagement, baby room training, behaviour support. 
  • Provide quality improvement visits to all schools and settings. 
  • Develop materials and marketing of the Early Years offer for 3–4-year-olds and some 2-year-olds and Family Information service.  
  • Maintain and develop relationships with health visiting colleagues to ensure consistent messages are shared with families. 
  • Healthy Vitamins to pregnant women and women with a child under 12 months and children aged up to 4 years, who are receiving Healthy Start vouchers and are entitled to free Healthy Start vitamins.  
  • Provide an online digital support platform for Early Years 0-5 so they can gain information, advice and guidance through the Sefton Council Webpage and Social Media platforms.  
  • Provide universal half term programmes through the HAF for children under 5.  
  • All centres are accessible to parents with children under 5 to receive face to face support on issues that may be affecting them, and the right support is offered at the right time.  
  • Fun 4 Kidz Play and Child Care are a registered charity that was set up in 1998 to provide out of school clubs in Netherton, however due to the excellent reputation the organisation has built up and its ability to develop and expand services to meet the needs of local communities and families. Fun 4 Kidz, helping families throughout Merseyside.  
  • Fun 4 Kidz now provides out of school childcare across 9 afterschool clubs, 3 holiday clubs and 3 breakfast clubs within 8 different communities.  

Happy ‘N’ Healthy Sefton is a collaboration of public health partners (including Active Sefton, CGL, Sexual Health, Kooth, the 0-19 service and Smoke Free Sefton), which provides integrated universal health and wellbeing support for children and young people aged 0-19 (up to 25 with SEND).  

  • Home-Start is a voluntary organisation committed to supporting the welfare of families with at least one child under 11 years of age. 
  • Trained Volunteers offer weekly support, friendship and practical help to families under stress in their own homes to prevent family crisis and breakdown.  Home-Start provide a free counselling service for supported parents and run weekly baby and toddler groups in the community for isolated families.  
  •  Weekly Pram walks, holiday activities and day trips for families. Provide baby clothes and equipment through our re-use project. 
  • We are a Youth and Community hub, passionate about our community and the development of impactful opportunities that enhance the lives of our communities' residents. 
  • Fun and interactive 'stay and play' sessions for parents and children aged 4 and under. 
  • Netherton Feelgood Factory is a community-led, healthy living centre, operating in Sefton in Merseyside. The Feelgood Factory provides services for the whole community from childhood to old age, in order to promote health and well-being as holistically as possible. The programme of activities is delivered both in the centre and through outreach work elsewhere in Sefton.  
  • Provide Breast feeding support through a chill and chat support group.  

All library staff are MECC trained and have a variety of resources to signpost children and families to services

  • Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre is a safe and fun environment. It is a place to learn, play and socialise.  
  • Offers: Thursday stay and play and Wednesday stay and soft play. 

Child Home Safety Equipment: Installation of child home safety equipment to families across the borough. One of the long-term objectives is to promote the understanding of the importance of safety in the home. 

  • Open access to the Universal offer with one point of contact for 0-19 (25 with SEND) services in Sefton CYP with duty practitioners available to provide advice.  
  • Well Baby Clinic.  
  • School Health Drop-in Clinics.  
  • CHAT Health.  
  • Universal Offer to the HCP for all families in Sefton which includes health & wellbeing and development reviews.  
  • All children have an identified named school nurse or health visitor.  
  • Nursery Nurse links for nursery provision as part of the integrated 2-year review offer to all children in Sefton.   
  • Raising awareness of universal services available to all children and families in Sefton.  
  • The CYP workforce are trained in ACEs and to deliver trauma informed care.
