Land Around Former Johnson's Factory, Bootle
Sefton Council and the Environmental Protection Group carried out indoor air quality testing in 12 properties around the former Johnson’s site in summer 2026.
The completed tests found no evidence that indoor air quality in any of the properties was significantly affected by chemicals from the site.
All results are well below recognised health-based guidelines for short and long-term health effects.
There is no current risk to residents' health. A further round of testing planned for early 2027.
