Counting assistants count the votes cast at polling stations, together with any postal votes. Depending on the election, counting may take place straight after the polls close (10pm on polling day) or on the following day(s).
Our election counts can be held at Dunes Leisure Centre, Aintree Racecourse and Bootle Town Hall. However, this may vary depending on the type of election.
The counting of votes for the scheduled election which is taking place on Thursday 7 May will be on Friday 8 May 2026 at Aintree Racecourse.
