The Office for National Statistics (ONS) publishes annual mid-year population estimates (MYE) across various geographic levels, including Local Authority, Ward, and Lower Super Output Area (LSOA). These estimates reflect the number of residents living in each area as of 30th June each year. The figures are derived by adjusting the previous year’s population for births, deaths, internal and international migration, and specific population groups such as the armed forces and prisoners. Following the 2021 Census, all population estimates have been rebased. The most recent data available for Local Authorities is from 2024 (released on 30th July 2025), while the latest Ward and LSOA data is from 2022 (released on 19th March 2024).
