Monitoring and Reviewing Provision

Provision Mapping

Sefton recommends that schools incorporate Provision Maps into their own school offer.  Schools are encouraged to use the provision maps as a strategic tool, which enables the SENDCO (with Senior Leaders) to reflect, evaluate and respond to the needs of SEN pupils within their school.  Sefton has developed Provision Maps to support the consistency of provision across all settings in Sefton, and these form the core of the Graduated Approach Toolkit. Provision maps should be used to monitor the effectiveness of their SEN Provision across all areas of need.

‘Provision maps are an efficient way of showing all the provision that the school makes which is additional to and different from that which is offered through the school’s curriculum. The use of provision maps can help SENDCOs to maintain an overview of the programmes and interventions used with different groups of pupils and provide a basis for monitoring the levels of intervention.’ SEND Code of Practice, 2015
