Sefton is a borough for everyone and our strategy for 2023-2027 demonstrates how Sefton Council and the borough we serve, is making progress where equality, diversity and inclusion are concerned. It also outlines our equality objectives showing where we aim to improve in the coming years.

Equal Pay

The Council strives for equal pay. An equal pay audit has been completed for employees covered by the National Joint Council pay and conditions of service. The Council has been working closely with the trade unions and the pay grades relating to NJC staff were jointly agreed between the Council and the trade unions.

Training

As part of our on-going commitment we also have a comprehensive training programme to ensure all of our staff have an awareness and an understanding of the principles and performance associated with delivering of services in a fair and supportive manner.

Fostering Good Relations – Community Events Fund

The Equality and Diversity Community Events Fund has been developed to support community organisations and charities to deliver events which celebrate and promote equality, diversity and inclusion within the borough. The aim is to foster good relations within the community and build stronger community cohesion.   

Events should be linked to the Council’s published Equality and Diversity Calendar and to the aims of the Council’s Core Purpose, with particular emphasis on supporting its most vulnerable residents.
