Crime and emergencies

Emergency Planning

General advice on how you can prepare for an emergency is available on the Merseyside Prepared website.

Environmental Services - Out of Hours

We respond to major emergencies and other serious environmental health problems that arise (outside normal working hours) where there is an imminent risk to health or the environment. To report an issue please contact Sefton Arc (formerly Sefton Security).

Spillage - Roads

If you see an incident of spillage on the highway, such as oil, gravel, sand or dropped cargo please report it to Merseyside Police. The Police will contact us if assistance is required. We would then aim to clear the spillage within 1 hour during the normal working day or within 2 hours if the incident is outside normal working hours.

Floods

There are a number of different sources of flooding and it is important to report the right type of flooding to the correct risk management authority for the issue to be resolved effectively. Our Flooding Webpages provide details on how to report all forms of flooding.

Syringes

If you discover a discarded needle or syringe within the grounds of a school or nursery, please report the item immediately to the nearest member of staff. Alternatively, call Sefton Council on 0345 140 0845 and we will arrange a safe disposal of the item(s). We aim to collect any reported items within one hour during a normal working day.

Coastguard

Holyhead Coastguard Operations Centre 0344 382 0736 or in an emergency in the UK, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
