Sefton Coast Landscape Partnership

The Sefton Coast Landscape Partnership (SCLP) is one of the longest-standing groups in Sefton and has been operating for over 40 years.

The group is made up of significant landowners and partner agencies with an interest and responsibility in the management, development, and conservation of all 22 miles of the Sefton Coast.

Watch the short video below to learn why the partnership is important for our Natural Coast:

Organisations include:

  • Sefton Council Cabinet Members and Ward Councillors
  • Sefton Council departments such as Green Sefton, Highways and Public Protection
  • Merseyside Environment Agency Service (MEAS)
  • Natural England
  • The Environment Agency
  • United Utilities
  • Mersey Forest
  • The National Trust
  • RSBP
  • Lancashire Wildlife Trust
  • Sefton CVS
  • CPRE Lancashire
  • Community members and volunteers

The SCLP is a voluntary group. The Board meets four times a year and makes sure partners coordinate the management and development activities that take place across the coastline.

The Board is supported by a Resources Task Group which also meets four times a year to focus on the delivery of the Sefton Coast Plan.

Sefton Coast Plan

The plan was approved and adopted by the Council in 2017. In 2021, a position statement was published.

The Coast Plan provides an opportunity for the partnership to coordinate balancing the need to provide great visitor facilities and opportunities at the coast, with the unique environmental sensitivities and protected features.

There are currently four key strands that inform the delivery of the Coast Plan and form the basis of the work of the SCLP board and resources task group.

These are:

Nature Conservation Strategy

Recreation Mitigation Strategy

Visitor Economy Strategy
