The 'Green Gyms' initiative is one response to the growing need and demand from people who don't like gyms and sports centres, but want some exercise. One such scheme operates at Queensway Allotments. There you can join a cheerful group of all ages and abilities, do a bit of gardening, have a chat, share the produce and perhaps make new friends. (And don’t be put off by the word “Gym” – this is about gardening and getting some gentle exercise, rather than pumping iron!)
