Transport and Travel

The Open is one of the world’s largest sporting events and brings tens of thousands of spectators throughout the week.

It is recommended that fans consider using public transport which will be enhanced during the week. Those staying in the local area are urged to consider active travel (walking, wheeling or cycling).

There is no public car parking available at Royal Birkdale or in the surrounding area. All public parking is being managed at Park and Ride sites.

The RA website has a detailed guide on travelling to the Open, including details of how to get there by rail, by active travel, or by road, as well as further details around the Park and Ride sites. This guide to travel to the Open can be found here.
