August 2026
Phase 2 of Southport Eastern Access is anticipated to start on Monday 17th August. These will be early works in Meols Park alongside Scarisbrick New Road. There will also be some vegetation (bushes etc) clearing on Foul Lane and on Kew Roundabout.
The main work is due to start in September and is anticipated to take approximately 9 months to complete.
The first section of works will be taking place within Meols park. This will include putting down a layer of stone along the park boundary. This will be the foundation for the widened footpath and segregated cycle path.
Because of the poor ground condition, the stone layer will be left to settle for a few months, before a layer of tarmac will be put over it towards the end of the scheme. This is to ensure that the future footpath remains level and does not sink at different rates, creating an even path.
The rest of the works will be on Foul Lane and Kew Roundabout, and Town lane Kew and New Foul Lane from the roundabout.
Phases
The works will be constructed in phases, and traffic management (traffic cones, lanes closures etc.) will be in place. Whilst we will keep traffic moving and around the roundabout, there may be some delays during this time to journey times.
Access for residents and to businesses will be maintained throughout the works.
