Street lighting

  • f you want to report a broken street light or bollard you can do so online by clicking the link under Do It Online. If the situation is dangerous situations (e.g. electrical wires are exposed) please contact us (Monday -Friday 8am-4pm) on 0345 140 0845. If the emergency is out of hours (Weekends or evenings 4pm - 9am) call our Sefton Arc team on 0151 922 6107. We aim to fix reported issues within 5 working days, however, this is not always possible. Any works that are not completed within 5 working days can be checked on the online form with your ref no you receive when reporting an issue. You can always re-submit your issue ensuring that your e-mail or contact details are included so that a response may be provided if requested. Thank you for using our online form.

Please provide as much information as you can such as light out completely, going on/off, burning all day or intermittent, and include the number of the column. If you cannot see this then please state the exact location or adjacent house number.

How long will it take to repair?
Standard faults are usually repaired within 5 working days. If there is a problem on the electricity cable feeding the column, notification is sent to the external provider who usually attend within 25 working days of receiving report.

If the metal plate at the base of the lamp column has been removed, we will attend within 2 hours and make safe. If the lamp column outside your house is leaning or damaged an inspector will come out to assess the damage and then determine how urgent the job is.

Can the lighting in my street be improved?
All changes including improvement requests will be considered and prioritised accordingly. We take into account age and condition of the existing installation along with the light output. However, financial constraints will be the determining factor when defining our improvements programme.

What about emergencies?

In an out of hours emergency please contact Sefton Arc on 0151 922 6107. An emergency is an incident which provides an immediate risk to health and safety, such as the lamp post door is off, the column, sign or bollard is leaning badly and about to fall, the column, sign or bollard has been damaged due to a road traffic accident, the lantern is hanging from the street lamp or cable damaged or exposed on street lamp
