Our Future, Our Bootle - Bootle Area Action Plan

The Council submitted the Bootle AAP and associated documents to the Secretary of State on 16th December 2024. The Plan will be examined by a Government Inspector, with an Examination Hearing (if necessary) expected in spring 2025. |
‘Our Future, Our Bootle’ is an Area Action Plan (AAP) which sets out a clear vision for the town and the wider area for the next two decades and beyond. An AAP is type of development plan for a specified area. The AAP covers Bootle and parts of Seaforth and Litherland.
The Plan identifies the locations in the town where regeneration and investment are needed and also aims to help to secure the homes that people need and want, good quality open spaces and facilities, job opportunities and approaches to tackle climate change and environmental issues. It will also help support the Council’s ambitious plans for Bootle Town Centre.
On 11th July 2024, Full Council agreed that the Bootle AAP publication version (July 2024) should be published for representations to be made and then submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination.
The Bootle AAP Publication document was available for comments from Friday 13th September until Monday 11th November 2024. Copies of the AAP and supporting documents are available below. A paper copy of the Publication Draft Bootle Area Action Plan and the associated Policies Map can be viewed at:
- Bootle Library, Stanley Road Bootle (Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 1pm)
- Bootle Town Hall, Oriel Road, Bootle (Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm)
- Magdalen House, Trinity Road, Bootle (Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm).
Submission to Secretary of State and Examination
The Council submitted the Bootle AAP and associated documents to the Secretary of State on 16th December 2024. The Plan will be examined by a Government Inspector, with an Examination Hearing (if necessary) expected in spring 2025.
Inspector Simon Dean MA MRTPI has been appointed to hold an independent examination of the Bootle Area Action Plan.
Details of examination hearings will be updated on this webpage once dates are confirmed.
The Inspector will decide whether the Council may adopt the AAP (with or without modification). The Council anticipates adoption of the Plan in mid/late 2025.
We have appointed Kerry Trueman (of Programme Officer Solutions) as programme officer to assist the inspector in carrying out their examination, and she will be the contact for the inspector and those involved in the examination.
