Identify methods to take care of own mental health and wellbeing. Identify strategies or techniques that can be used to manage common difficult situations. Outline the importance of emotional resilience in maintaining good mental health and wellbeing.
Know how to provide support to family and friends for their mental health and wellbeing
Identify the signs and symptoms associated with the main types of mental ill health. Identify situations when it is appropriate to provide support and when professional or emergency assistance should be used. Outline ways that an individual can offer support to family and friends with their mental health and wellbeing. Identify how to maintain own mental wellbeing while supporting someone with mental ill health.

This is a course for complete beginners and no prior subject knowledge or skills are required as this is an Introductory course to mental health and wellbeing.
A basic level of literacy will be needed (E3 - L1)
On this course you will need to:

- Listen and join in group discussions
- Jot down notes to record relevant information
- Keep your work organised in a file
- Use a PC/laptop or tablet for research or to present your work and to access our learning platform
The materials you will need
At enrolment, you will need your National Insurance number and proof of benefits (if applicable).
Your tutor will provide many of the learning resources, but you will need to come prepared to the lessons with an A4 pad; pen and folder or file to keep your work organised.
It will be an advantage, but not essential, if you have access to the internet at home to extend your learning.
How you will learn
Each session will consist of a dynamic tutor presentation followed by a range of interactive activities.
There will be plenty of revision and consolidation and learning will build on previous learning.
Your progress will be monitored by informal assessment tasks, and you will receive verbal and written feedback from the tutor to help you make good.
There is an end of course assessment, for you to gain the qualification. The Assessment is a multiple choice paper of 15 questions. You will have half an hour to complete the Assessment. The pass rate is 60%.
The awarding body for this Level 1 Award – Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing is Highfield.
What happens after you complete your course
On completion of this course, you can progress to:

Who this course is for
People who are considering working in a learning support environment – in school, further education or other environments and would like to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to support learners in a wide range of settings.
It’s aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.
This qualification is aimed at learners in placement / working in support roles within schools and colleges.
Learners on the course will be asked to attend an interview with the course tutors to determine their suitability, commitment to the course and provide evidence of their placement, after which they will be registered on the qualification.
What you will learn
NCFE Cache Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments.
It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.
The qualification comprises 11 mandatory units:

Knowledge and Skills needed to join the course
An interest in working within a Learning Support role, in a wide range of settings is essential.
A good level of English and Maths (Level 1 minimum)
Learners will need to be working or on a practical placement for the duration of the course in a learning environment (school or college) as they need to show competence in both skills and knowledge.
Learners are responsible for securing their own placement and failure to do so will result in not being able to achieve the full qualification.

How you will learn

You will complete a Portfolio of Work which will be internally assessed and externally verified by the awarding body (NCFE). Learners will complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), to ensure learning focuses on their individual needs, recognising prior knowledge and skills.

This qualification gives the learner employment opportunities within Primary/Secondary/FE and other educational environments.

The programme is split into two parts, the first week is an introductory course, that leads to an NCFE qualification course to extend your skills and knowledge in Mentoring.

Who this course is for
Adult learners, over 19 years of age, who are Liverpool City Region residents and want to take the first steps into teaching adults, whether that be in community learning, private training, further education or other establishments.

This course is for learners who want to teach in further education and have a subject specialism.
No prior knowledge of teaching is required but you will need to:
- *hold a Level 2 English qualification and have the potential to work at Level 3
- *hold a relevant vocational and/or academic award, ideally at Level 3, and/or
have substantial vocational experience in the subject area you want to teach
* Talk to us if you don’t have these awards because you may be able to take an entry assessment activity to demonstrate you can work at the level required. Once on the programme you may also want to enrol on to a Digital Skills, Maths and/or English course which we can help you with.
On this course you will need to:
- follow verbal and written instructions and work through them at your own pace

- present information in front of your peers

- conduct research from a number of different sources including websites, books and journals

How you will learn
Each session will consist of a dynamic tutor presentation/demonstration followed by a range of interactive activities with plenty of revision and consolidation of learning building on previous learning.
Your progress will be monitored by formal and informal assessment tasks, and you will receive verbal and written feedback from the tutor to help you make good progress.
The qualification is made up of 3 units and a micro teach session which you will deliver to your peers in class. It is expected that you spend time at home to complete homework tasks, conduct research and consolidate learning. Drafts of assignments will be completed in class and typed at home ready for submission.
A completed portfolio of evidence is compiled, assessed and internally quality assured prior to submitting to Ascentis for external verification and certification.
